Harold was born in Dumfries, Scotland on September 26, 1881. He and his wife Eliza (nee Alliston) were living in Vancouver at the time of his enlistment on September 23, 1914. Harold injured his knee in February of 1916 when he fell with a load of pickets in his arms. In August of 1916, he fell from a parapet to the bottom of a trench. Harold was invalided to Canada in September of 1917 as he suffered from myalgia and an injured knee. He was discharged on January 31, 1918. Harold and Eliza came to the South Peace in 1919 and filed on homesteads at NW 21-73-12-W6 and SW 33-73-12-W6. Harold died on July 16, 1945 and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.
