Early Settlers in the Grande Prairie District

Description:
A listing of the names of individuals to first file on quarters of land in the Grande Prairie District: Townships 70-79, Ranges 1-13. Also included are the filing date, the date patent was issued, and a note on whether the land was filed on under Hudson Bay Service, South African Scrip, Soldier's Grant, Soldier's Settlement Board or Red River Scrip. There are two listings available, alphabetical and legal description order.

Homesteader's Trails to the Peace River Country

Description:
A description of the three major trails over which settlers came to the Peace Country: the E.J. Lawrence Route of 1879; the Long Trail and Chalmers Trail c. 1903; and the Edson Trail of 1911-1916. Supplementary sections in the book are "The Clinic at Pipestone Creek," the "Song of the Wapiti" by Sela Watts and Cam Browne, and "The I.V. Macklin Letters, " written by I.V. Macklin in 1911 to his first wife Nellie before they were married.
