| Series 301.01 | Government Relations. -- 1951-1994. -- 79 cm of textual records.At the first council meeting on March 8, 1951, M.D. Kehr was elected chair and 11 departments were created to administer all phases of county government—five from the municipal committee and six from the school committee. The five departments of the municipal committee were mainly concerned with Public Works: Construction; Gravel; Materials, Repairs and Fuels; Maintaining; and Contingency. The six departments of the school committee were Auxiliary Services, Repairs, Dormitory Accommodation, Instruction, Caretaking, and Capital Expenditures.The series consists of the minutes of committees created to fulfill the functions of the County, in this case, the minutes of the Board of Education. |

| Series 301.02 | Community Relations. -- 1948-2003. -- 69 cm of textual records.The series consists of agreements between the County of Grande Prairie and other organizations: a recreational lease in 1948, a bridge timber contract in 1951, a tractor contract in 1951, an agreement regarding Wapiti Lodge Dorm in 1955, and the Wapiti Civil Defence Unit in 1963. Also included in this series are a collection of scrapbooks from 1970 to 2003 detailing the activities and issues of the County of Grande Prairie. There are also three scrapbooks regarding the Proctor and Gamble Mill in the County. |

There is also a 1928 land ownership map of the M.D. of Bear Lake No. 740, town plans of Lake Saskatoon and Bezanson, and an undated map showing historical sites. |
| SubSeries 301.03.01 | Map collection. -- 1955-2005. -- 10 maps.In the late 1940s, the council of the Municipal District of Grande Prairie No. 127 “approached the Department of Municipal Affairs suggesting that a form of the County system be tried.” (County of Grande Prairie No. 1 50th Anniversary Special Edition, Daily Herald Tribune) The County Act became law on July 1, 1950 and the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 was incorporated on January 1, 1951, the first and largest county in the province of Alberta. On February 22, 1951, eleven councilors were elected to the County of Grande Prairie: Lewis Hawkes, M.D. Kehr, G.R. Johnson, Bob Rycroft, Tom Warden, Alex Novlesky, Bernard Liland, Percy Johnson, Ed Williamson, A.E. Hawksworth, and James Smith. The first council meeting was held on March 8, 1951 and M.D. Kehr was elected chair. |
